Auzout is an impact crater on the eastern edge of the lunar front , near the southern edge of Mare Crisium , north of Firmicus crater . The crater rim is little eroded, the interior is uneven and shows traces of landslides.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1961 after the French astronomer and physicist Adrien Auzout .
