Avatanak Strait Islands

The Avatanak Strait Islands is a subgroup of the Krenitzin Islands , a subgroup of the Fox Islands group of islands in the eastern Aleutian Islands , Alaska .

The archipelago is located on Avatanak Strait south of the coast of Akun Island and consists of the small islands of Poa Island , Puffin Island and Tangik Island . The archipelago is a habitat for large colonies of sea birds. More than 100,000 birds live here, more than 85% of which are yellow-capped , more than 1% of the global population. A small number of the endangered pied ducks overwinter here.
