Aversion was an American crossover band from Orange County , California that was formed in 1986 and split up around 1995.

history

The band was formed in 1986 and consisted of singer Christian Fuhrer, guitarist and singer Dash, bassist Edward Tatar and drummer Joe Tatar. After the group had developed their first songs, the first demo followed in 1988. This demo was followed by another, which allowed the band to get a record deal with Medusa Records . This label released the debut album The Ugly Truth , which was produced by Randy Burns. In the fall of 1991 the band played a European tour together with Gwar and was also represented in Germany . After that, the band returned to the US to play concerts with DOA and Suicidal Tendencies . In 1992 the second album followed with Fit to Be Tied . In 1995 the last album Fall from Grace followed on Doctor Dream Records before the band broke up.

style

On their debut The Ugly Truth , the band played a mixture of speed and thrash metal, with the lyrics that deal with "the adversities of everyday life" being reminiscent of hardcore punk. On the second album Fit to Be Tied , the influence of Thrash Metal was very high, whereby the band is reminiscent of the early Metallica and especially Fuhrer's vocals are strongly reminiscent of James Hetfield 's. In addition, an influence from hardcore punk can be heard again, whereby it is characteristic that the band refrains from using guitar solos . The music is also reminiscent of that of Annihilator . Fast passages are interspersed with breaks . Henning Richter from Metal Hammer also assigned the music to Power Metal . In Fall from Grace , the speed of the pieces also varied. In their fastest songs, the band was reminiscent of the early suicidal tendencies.
