Immediately afterwards there were heavy thunderstorms with lightning and thunder in many places. Worst in the municipality of Avesta . The measured wind strength was between 20 and 30  m / s (up to 100 km / h).

Heavy hail showers fell in the middle of the day. The communities Hedemora and Norberg were most affected . At the same time, a large tornado hit the municipality of Avesta. Starting from Brovallen via Avesta and Horndal , up to Byvalla, where it dissolved. The highest measured wind speed was 35 m / s in Horndal.

The storm is known as the Avesta storm because the Avesta municipality was hardest hit.

A large rally event held in Hedemora had to be canceled due to the hail and strong winds. The main reason for the demolition was that a driver crashed into a tree because of poor visibility.
