Avi Pazner

Avi Pazner (* 1937 in Gdansk ) is a former Israeli diplomat and has been chairman of Keren Hajessod since 1998 .

Pazner stayed in Switzerland during the Second World War . At the age of 16, he emigrated to Israel with his family. After finishing school in Jerusalem , he served in the Israel Defense Forces until 1959.

Pazner studied Politics and Economics at the Hebrew University . After completing his studies, he started working for the Israeli Foreign Ministry in 1965 . Here he held various positions. Among other things, he acted as press spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 1981 to 1986.

In 1991 he was appointed Israeli ambassador to Italy . Pazner was also the non-resident ambassador for Malta and later became the first non-resident ambassador for Albania . As ambassador to Italy, he negotiated with the Holy See to establish diplomatic relations. In 1995, Pazner switched to the post of ambassador in France . He held this office until September 1998, when he was elected chairman of Keren Hajessod .

Pazner is married and has three children. The French President Jacques Chirac made him Commander of the Legion of Honor .
