The Awami National Party ( Pashtun ملي عوامي ګوند, Urdu عوامی نيشنل پارٹی ʿAwāmī nīšonal pārṭī ; Acronym ANP ) is a Pakistani political party that has two seats in the National Assembly after the last elections in 2013 . It was founded in 1986 by Abdul Wali Khan and its current chairman is Asfandyar Wali Khan , grandson of freedom fighter Bacha Khan .

As part of the government cabinet led by the Pakistani People's Party and Muttahida Qaumi Movement , the Awami National Party's political position is viewed as left-wing ; it is against extremism and advocates secularism, democratic socialism, public sector government and economic equality.

The Awami National Party is the largest Pashtun party in Pakistan. Although the center of its vote is in the Pashtun-dominated areas in and around Khyber Pakhtunkhwa , it also has strongholds in the provinces of Balochistan and Sindh . The party supports friendly relations with the neighboring states of Afghanistan and India .
