Avram Minow Tschaliowski ( Bulgarian Аврам Минов Чальовски ; * 1854 in Galičnik , Ottoman Empire ; † November 3, 1943 in Sofia , Bulgaria ) was a Bulgarian industrialist and benefactor.

Life

Avram Tschaliowski was born in the western Macedonian village of Galičnik, then the Ottoman Empire (today in the Republic of Macedonia). After the liberation of Bulgaria and the establishment of the Principality of Bulgaria in 1878, Tschaliowski emigrated like many Macedonian Bulgarians to the Bulgarian capital Sofia. Once there, he initially earned his living as a street vendor in Bosa . In 1898 he invested his money in a manufacturing facility, labor and inventory, and started making halva . Its production facility was called "Industrial Home for the production of candies, vegetable oils, halva, cocoa, chocolate, biscuits, caramel and another" (bulg from. Индустриална къща за производство на захарни изделия, растителни масла, тахан, какао, шоколад, бисквити, карамел и пр. ) The production facility grew into a factory over the next few years and became the first Bulgarian factory for halva, which later became the official supplier to the Bulgarian court of tsars. In 1921 he opened a second mainstay in the port city of Burgas with the sugar refinery factory.

In 1929 Tschaliowski founded the factory for confectionery and vegetable oil in Burgas, the predecessor of today's confectionery manufacturer Pobeda . For this purpose, part of the existing Burgasser factory was outsourced.

In 1939, Tschaliowski opened another factory of the Sofia Industrial House at Iskar station. This factory produced vegetable oil, glucose and starch . In addition, this factory had a printing house in which the labels and advertising materials for all goods produced by the Taliovsky factories were produced.

Tschaliowski died on November 3, 1943 in the Bulgarian capital Sofia. He was buried next to his first colleague, with whom he had opened the first factory in 1898, at the Sofia Central Cemetery.

Chaliovsky was also known as a benefactor. Larger donations he went to the monastery of Sveti Jovan Bigorski , the monastery Zografou and to the Rila Monastery .
