Axel Bierbaum

Axel Bierbaum (born October 21, 1953 in Hamburg ), also known in Mexico as Axel Bierbaum Dietz due to the Spanish naming convention , is a German fitness trainer who has been working in Mexico for more than two decades. He was also twice briefly head coach of a Mexican first division club .

Life

Due to the meager sources, it is not possible to determine when the native of Hamburg emigrated to Mexico and whether he has only worked in Mexico since then. Axel Bierbaum studied at the Sports University in Cologne and was a soccer player at Bonner SC in the 1979/1980 season .

In the 1989/90 season he was a fitness trainer in Mexico at Cruz Azul and after the early dismissal of the head coach Mario Velarde was used for the last eight games of the season as an interim coach. In September 1993 he came back briefly for four games as an interim coach at Puebla FC .

Since 1997, his work as a fitness trainer with the first division clubs Cruz Azul (1997-2000 and 2003), Monarcas Morelia (2000-2001 and 2008-2010), Puebla (2002 and 2003), Jaguares (2004-2006) and América (2006 –2007 as well as since 2010).
