Benno stops

Benno Stops (born July 8, 1950 in Neundorf (Anhalt) ; † August 29, 2015 ) was a German sprinter who specialized in the 400-meter run and started for the GDR .

In 1973 he won silver at the European Indoor Athletics Championships in Rotterdam . At the European Athletics Championships in Rome in 1974 he came in fourth place with the GDR team in the 4 x 400 meter relay .

At the GDR championships he came second in 1973 and third in 1974. In 1973 he was able to win the GDR championship title in the 4 x 400 meter relay as part of the SC Magdeburg relay. Stops started for SC Magdeburg .

Stops died of cancer on August 29, 2015.
