Axel Kiefer (born November 19, 1936 - May 31, 2013 in Wuppertal ) was a German football player .

Career

Axel Kiefer, the son of a butcher , was appointed to the 1st team of the WSV in February 1956 by the coach of Wuppertaler SV , Raymond Schwab , from SSV 1904 Elberfeld, where he stayed until 1962. For the Bergische he played 75 games in the Oberliga West , in which he scored seven goals. In February 1957 he and Horst Szymaniak were brought to the Duisburg sports school by national trainer Sepp Herberger for a viewing course.

After differences with the trainer Robert "Zapf" ​​Gebhardt , he moved to ETB Schwarz-Weiß Essen in 1962 . In their regional league team , he made 82 appearances and 20 goals. After his football career ended at the age of 30, he joined his parents' butcher's business.
