Axel Klein (chemist)

Axel Klein (born March 21, 1964 ) is a German chemist .

Life

Axel Klein studied chemistry at the University of Stuttgart from 1983 to 1991 . In 1991 he presented his diploma thesis “Single- and binuclear complexes of rhenium (I) fragments: Re (CO) 3L with π-electron-poor µ2-chelating ligands” with Wolfgang Kaim .

In 1994 he wrote his doctoral thesis “Substrate selectivity and stabilization of unusual oxidation states through spatial shielding in d8-configured platinum metal complexes” at the University of Stuttgart. From 1999 to 2000 he was a postdoc with Derk J. Stufkens at the Universiteit van Amsterdam .

In 2002 Klein completed his habilitation at the University of Stuttgart. From 2003 he worked as a private lecturer for inorganic chemistry at the University of Stuttgart.

From 2003 to 2004 he was a visiting professor at the Institute for Chemistry at the University of Graz . Since 2004 he has been a professor at the Institute for Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Cologne.
