Axel Lais

Axel Lais (born March 5, 1964 ) is a former German soccer player .

Athletic career

Lais comes from the youth of Eintracht Freiburg , which he left for SC Freiburg . For the then second division team he made his debut in the 1984/85 season in the 2nd Bundesliga , when the defender was in the starting lineup in the 1-0 away win on October 6, 1984 at the Stuttgarter Kickers . By the summer of 1987 he played 90 professional football games for Breisgau, almost a year after his debut he scored his only goal in the second division in the 2-0 away win at SG Wattenscheid 09 on October 5, 1985.

In the summer of 1987, Lais moved to FC Sportfreunde DJK Freiburg , who had been promoted to the third-class Oberliga Baden-Württemberg . As penultimate of the 1987/88 season he was relegated directly to the team, alongside other ex-professionals such as Gerhard Welz , Ralf Schöpperle , Jörg Linsenmaier , Ralf Obermann and Nenad Salov , he had played 26 league games with four goals.

Later Lais worked as a coach in amateur football in southern Baden, where he also played a part in the regional league for a while. He regularly took part in games of the traditional SC Freiburg team.
