Rolf Herber

Rolf Herber (born March 23, 1929 in Aachen ; † July 15, 2020 ) was a German lawyer and university professor .

Life

From 1949 he studied law in Cologne (1952 first state examination in law ). After receiving his doctorate in 1956 from the University of Cologne and the second state examination in 1957, he was a judge at the Bonn Regional Court . From 1958 to 1984 he was a consultant in the Federal Ministry of Justice (from 1974 head of the commercial and corporate law department). In 1974 he became an honorary professor at the University of Frankfurt am Main . From 1984 until his retirement in 1995 he was Professor (C4) for commercial law, in particular maritime law, at the University of Hamburg .
