Axel Wermke

Axel Wermke (born October 30, 1949 in Mannheim ) is a retired teacher and president of the regional synod of the Evangelical Church in Baden .

Live and act

Wermke grew up in Mannheim, his parents were employed by the BBC company and the Heidelberg public utility company. After graduating from high school in 1968, Wermke studied German, religion and geography at the PH Heidelberg, he was teacher, vice-principal and five years rector of the Herrmann-Gmeiner-Grund- und Werkrealschule in Ubstadt near Bruchsal until his retirement in 2013. He studied Protestant theology he up after a semester.

In addition to his school service, he was a local councilor ( CDU ) and volunteered in numerous social areas , for which he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit in 2006 .

On October 21, 2014, Axel Wermke was elected as the successor to Margit Fleckenstein as President of the Baden State Synod. Wermke is also chairman of the Bruchsal-Bretten District Synod.

Axel Wermke is married and has three children with his wife.
