Wu Zhenglong (Chinese: 吴 政 隆; born November 1964 in Gaochun ) is a Chinese politician and current governor of Jiangsu Province . He was previously the Communist Party Secretary of Nanjing . Born in Jiangsu, Wu served in Chongqing and then Shanxi earlier in his career before returning to his home province, where he experienced a number of rapid promotions.

Wu was born in Gaochun District, Jiangsu Province. He graduated from Taiyuan Mechanical College (later renamed North University of China ) in 1984 , where he studied mechanical engineering and then served in the Department of Military Utilities and Industry before being transferred to the National Planning Commission to serve as political secretary. In 1999, he became the deputy general secretary of Chongqing City Government , shortly after it became a city under government . He was appointed deputy governor of Wanzhou County , then governor, and then party leader. Wu was considered a "political survivor" after serving in the administration of the Chongqing party leader at the time, Bo Xilai , who was overthrown in 2012. In May 2013, Wu was appointed general secretary of the party's committee and a member of the party's standing committee in Chongqing.

In 2014, Chen Chuanping was removed from office as Taiyuan party leader as part of a corruption investigation. Wu was installed as Taiyuan's new party leader in August 2014; He also received an ex officio seat on the Provincial Party's Standing Committee. Wu served in Shanxi for two years before being promoted back to his home province of Jiangsu to serve as vice and party leader of the provincial capital, Nanjing, a clear promotion and an indication that he was being prepared for higher office. In May 2017, Wu was appointed acting governor of Jiangsu , the Chinese province with the second highest economic performance .

Wu was a delegate to the 11th National People's Congress , which was elected in 2008. Wu was an alternate member of the 18th Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party and a full member of the 19th Central Committee.
