Ayla Gottschlich

Ayla Gottschlich (born June 29, 1982 in Berlin ) is a German film director and screenwriter .

life and career

Gottschlich, the daughter of a German-Turk and a German, grew up in Berlin. In 2004 she made her debut with the video documentary A cuckoo does not take a jackdaw as a man . In discussions with her German grandparents, she works out “in a paradigmatic way the problematic relationship between immigrants and long-established people”.

During her studies at the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy , she made further documentaries that were shown at festivals: Pizza Punjabi (2006) and Bana Bak - Schau mich an (2007). The latter describes the life of lesbian women in Turkey. The film received the rating of Particularly Valuable and was named “Documentary of the Month” by the Wiesbaden Film Evaluation Office in July 2008. Gottschlich was also nominated for the film at the 45th Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival in the documentation category.

As one of the unit managers, Gottschlich was also involved in the Arte / RBB experiment 24h Berlin - A Day in Life (2008). In Ballhaus Naunynstraße also makes theater work.

Gottschlich is the director of the documentary Chronicle of a Revolt - One Year in Istanbul about the protests on Istanbul's Taksim Square in early summer 2013.
