Royal British Legion Village
Located to the south of Aylesford, the village was established after World War I to help injured soldiers after their discharge from nearby Preston Hall Hospital. It became the center of a small community called The Preston Hall Colony . It was one of the first projects of the British Legion, founded in 1921 .
Since then, a thriving community has developed with nursing homes, assisted living and independent living units, as well as various social activities for the veterans.
In 1972 the headquarters of the Poppy Appeal moved to the village and is now one of the main centers of the Legion.
