Aita asch-Scha'b (also Ayta ech Chaab or Ayta ash Sha'b ; Arabic عيتا الشعب, DMG ʿAiṭā aš-Šaʿb ) is a small Lebanese village near the Israeli- Lebanese border.

Lebanon War 2006

According to Hezbollah , the two soldiers Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev were captured on July 12, 2006 in this town. The action, which Hezbollah called Operation Promise Keeped, is cited by Israel as the trigger for the 2006 Lebanon War .

From July 31, 2006 onwards, the town was fiercely contested between Hezbollah and the IDF .
