The 2006 Lebanon War was an escalation in the Middle East conflict . The events are presented chronologically below:

July

July 12, 2006

  • On the morning of July 12, Hezbollah fighters stationed in southern Lebanon fired Katyusha rockets targeting the Israeli city of Shlomi ( different spelling: Shelomi ) and the Israeli-occupied Shebaa farms . The Hezbollah military wing also launched a border attack on two Israeli military vehicles from Lebanon. Here took guerrilla units Hezbollah captured two Israeli soldiers and killed three others. July 14, 2006

  • From July 14th, Lebanon was sealed off by Israel with a complete blockade . The Israeli Air Force took control of Lebanese airspace. July 17, 2006

  • On July 17, 2006, UN mediators submitted a mediation proposal to the Lebanese Hezbollah to end military operations in the Middle East. They were supported by the EU.
  • At least 33 people were killed in further Israeli air strikes in Lebanon, including at least 21 people in an attack on a village near the southern Lebanese port of Tire. July 25, 2006

  • The UN has postponed its meeting to prepare a possible international peacekeeping force for Lebanon indefinitely. A UN representative said the meeting scheduled for today had been postponed until there was "more political clarity" on the path to be followed.
