The Ayvalı Dam ( Turkish Ayvalı Barajı ) is a dam on the Erkenez Çayı River , a right tributary of the Aksu Çayı 20 km east of the provincial capital Kahramanmaraş in the province of the same name in southern Turkey .
The Ayvalı Dam was built in 1993-2005 for the purpose of irrigation , drinking water supply and flood protection . The barrier structure, an earth embankment dam with a clay core , has a height of 75.5 m above the valley floor. The dam volume is 6.6 million m³. The reservoir covers an area of 2.73 km² with normal damming. The storage space is 80 million m³. The dam is designed for the irrigation of an area of 1680 ha.
