Baker-confectioner-confectioner or baker-confectioner-confectioner is the current name for several basic vocational training courses in Switzerland .

The job title in this form was created on January 1, 2011 with the merging of the previous apprenticeships " baker - confectioner " and "pastry chef".

Baker-confectioner-confectioner EBA

The training to become a baker-confectioner-confectioner EBA lasts two years.

The training is aimed at school-weaker students. The further training can consist of starting the shortened apprenticeship to become a baker-confectioner-confectioner EFZ.

The vocational school is attended one day a week.

Baker-confectioner-confectioner EFZ

The training to become a baker-confectioner-confectioner EFZ takes three years.

The training exists in two disciplines:

  • Bakery pastry shop
  • Pastry shop / confectionery.

Higher professional education

The training system is structured as follows:

First level: Apprenticeship completion (certificate of competence EFZ)
  • Baker-confectioner-confectioner EFZ
Second stage: professional examination ( federal certificate )
  • Head-baker-confectioner with federal diploma Qualification
  • Industry specialist in bakery, confectionery and confectionery with a federal diploma. Qualification
  • Head confectioner with federal diploma Qualification
Third level: higher technical examination (federal diploma)
  • Graduated baker-confectioner
  • Graduated pastry chef
  • Graduated merchant bakery / pastry shop / confectionery

Completion of the respective preliminary level as well as professional experience since completing the level represent the condition for the next higher level.

In total (from the beginning of the apprenticeship to the diploma), at least eight years of activity in the bakery-confectionery-confectionery sector are required.

Formally, the diploma of the higher technical examination corresponds roughly to the German master craftsman's certificate . Please note, however, that further training to become a master craftsman can be started in Germany immediately after the journeyman's examination. Intermediate levels and mandatory professional activity are not stipulated. As a result, the German master craftsman's certificate can be acquired much faster than the Swiss diploma.

In addition to this path of further education, other related activities, training and further education are also open.

Professional examination

For the professional examinations, three years of professional experience must be proven from the completion of the apprenticeship.

In order to be admitted, the candidate must continue to have completed the vocational training course.

Higher professional examination

For the higher technical examination, two more years of professional experience must be proven after the professional examination.

Higher technical School

Qualified technician HF in food technology . The training is bilingual (German and French) and lasts 2 years full-time.

University of Applied Sciences

During or after the basic vocational training to become a baker-confectioner-confectioner EFZ the vocational diploma can be acquired. It entitles you to study at the university of applied sciences .
