The Bärenbrücker Höhe is an artificially created elevation between the places Bärenbrück and Neuendorf . It was created in the 1970s by tipping the overburden from the Jänschwalde and Cottbus-Nord opencast mines .
For recultivation, around four million bushes and trees were planted from 1975 on an area of 440 hectares.
