The Bärenloch is a place in the old town of the Graubünden canton capital Chur between Arcas and Martinsplatz . It consists of two medieval, closely built-up courtyards, which are among the oldest buildings in Chur and which still illustrate the living situation in the time before the great city fire of 1464 - according to Chur Tourism, it is "the most enchanted place within the city of Chur."

The origin of the name "Bärenloch" is unclear. It is probably related to the loopholes between the courtyards, which are barely head high . Older documents speak of "curschellas", late Latin for "small courtyards".

Below the Bärenloch, the Untere Mühlbach flows underground into the old town.
