The monument to the Herzberger Major Francis Meyer

The Bärenwinkel is a corridor between Mühlenberg and Herzberg am Harz in the district of Göttingen in Lower Saxony .

Geographical location

The Bärenwinkel roughly comprises a forest area bounded by the Faulbornbach in the north and the Hägerfeld in the south and west . It is therefore part of the Harz Forest. In the middle of the Bärenwinkel there is a monument in honor of Major Francis Meyer.

Mining

In the Bärenwinkel mining trials were carried out on copper slate from 1694, but these were stopped again in 1697. Such attempts were made later in Silberhey to the northwest.
