Béatrice Coron

Béatrice Coron (born July 9, 1956 in Chambéry ) is a French artist who lives and works in the USA .

Life

Béatrice Coron comes from Chambéry, the capital of the French department Savoie, and studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Lyon . She worked as a travel guide in countries on different continents and has lived in New York since 1984 , where she works as an artist.

She made her work from a variety of materials: stone, metal, glass, paper and other fabrics, and recently she has also experimented with digital art and produces artist books. A technique she has often used since 1993 is derived from the imagery of paper cutting . She is one of the well-known American artists who perform works of this art form.

Works by Béatrice Coron can be found in numerous American cities on government buildings, in subway stations, in schools and hospitals and in public spaces in Chicago , Los Angeles , Asheville and New York. A large format work is at Charlotte Douglas International Airport , North Carolina.

Works by the Savoyard artist have been acquired by several art museums, including the Metropolitan Museum in New York, the Walker Art Center , the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC, and the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles. On the platform TED (Technology Entertainment and Design) she realized projects together with Al Gore , Bill Gates  and Yann Arthus-Bertrand .
