history

Böttingen is first handed down in 1225. The Elchingen monastery owned property here in 1225, which it sold to the Counts of Werdenberg in 1334 . He later came to the Teutonic Order . Further property came from the lords of Gundelfingen (1273) and von Westerstetten (1343) to the Teutonic Order and from the Ulm families of Gossolt, Ströhn and Rusch to the Söflingen monastery in the 14th century . The Ulm Order of the Teutonic Order exercised sovereignty and high jurisdiction , while the Söflingen Monastery and the Lords of Bernhausen zu Klingenstein also had a share in the lower court .

Böttingen came with Bollingen to Bavaria in 1805 and through the border treaty between Bavaria and Württemberg in 1810 to the Kingdom of Württemberg , where the place was subordinate to the Oberamt Blaubeuren .
