B-Thong (meanwhile B> Thong ) was a Swedish groove metal and hardcore punk band from Gothenburg , which was founded in 1990 under the name Concrete Stuff and dissolved in 1998.

history

The band, which came together in 1990 under the name Concrete Stuff , released demos and a single before renaming themselves in 1993. "B-Thong" is phonetically the Swedish word for concrete. The four Gothenburg residents responded to an invitation to submit a demo in the MTV program Headbangers Ball and were signed by the Dutch Mascot label. In the same year the band recorded their debut album Skinned . After the release, a tour with Skintrade followed . Damage was submitted as early as 1995 . Singer Tony Jelencovich had written some texts on this subject while experiencing his brother's drug addiction, which was a heavy burden on him , when a greater shock overtook him in the middle of the vocal recordings, triggered by the suicide of a friend. Without further ado he rewrote the lyrics of My Wound and Weakness . In November, however, Jelencovich left the band after musical differences to form the group Transport League . As a replacement was heard in 1997 on the album From Strength to Strength Ralph Lennart. Lennart, who called himself Ralph Gyllenhammar, soon left the band to join Mustasch . In 1998 the band broke up again.

style

B-Thong played groove metal with elements from hardcore punk and grunge . Again and again the musicians had to resist comparisons with Clawfinger . On the Damage album , the compositions were a bit more experimental. Singer Tony Jelencovich switched between shouting and clear vocals. The mix of styles as such and then also the fluctuations within the crystallized musical form of expression came from the fact that all musicians came from different bands with different styles.
