BT , until 2012 BT , is a Danish tabloid founded in 1916 and based in Copenhagen . It belongs to the Danish media company Berlingske Media , which in turn is part of the Mecom Group .

Berlingske Media publishes, among other things, the conservative daily Berlingske (until 2011 Berlingske Tidende ), from whose first letter the name of BT is derived. BT was founded as a conservative alternative to the tabloid Ekstra Bladet , which had been published since 1904 . Together, these two newspapers make up the Danish tabloids. Since the advent of free newspapers and the Internet, the circulation has decreased significantly, so that in July 2011 it was still 74,858 copies a day. However, the decline was not as strong as with the Ekstra Bladet, which fell behind BT for the first time with a circulation of 73,812 copies. These two papers differ from the free newspapers in their presentation (high proportion of images) and in content (self-researched reports with a focus on celebrities, sensations and sports).

The bt.dk website is accessed by more than 1.1 million Internet users every month, making it one of the largest news portals in Denmark.
