BY Raghavendra ( Bookanakere Yeddyurappa Raghavendra, also Raghavendra Yeddyurappa ; Kannada : .. ಬಿ ವೈ ರಾಘವೇಂದ್ರ * 16th August 1973 in Shikaripur ) is an Indian politician of the Hindu nationalist party Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from the state of Karnataka . From 2009 to 2014 he was a member of the Lok Sabha , the lower house of the all-India parliament .

BY Raghavendra was born on August 16, 1973 in Shikaripur City, Shimoga District , Central Carnataka. His father is BS Yeddyurappa , who served as the leading BJP politician in the state in 2007 and as Chief Minister of Karnataka from 2008-2011 . BY Raghavendra is Hindu and belongs to the Lingayat , a widespread and politically influential caste in Karnataka . He completed his training with a bachelor's degree in corporate management in Shimoga . Raghavendra has been married to R. Tejaswini since 1997. The couple have two sons.

BY Raghavendra began his political career in the 2009 parliamentary elections in India . He was nominated as a candidate for the BJP in the Shimoga constituency . As a result of the election, BY Raghavendra defeated his opponent from the Congress Party , former Chief Minister Karnatakas S. Bangarappa , and moved into Lok Sabha as one of 19 BJP MPs from Karnataka.

BY Raghavendra was involved in the 2011 corruption scandal surrounding his father, BS Yeddyurappa. Yeddyurappa was accused of giving Raghavendra and other family members land well below market value, which they then sold on to private companies for a large profit. After Yeddyurappa, who fell out with the BJP because of the corruption scandal, founded his own party in December 2012, the Karnataka Janata Paksha (KJP), BY Raghavendra also began to support the KJP. As a result, he was expelled from the BJP in April 2013. In January 2014, Yeddyurappas KJP reunited with the BJP and Raghavendra was re-admitted to the BJP.

In the 2014 general election , BY Raghavendra did not run again to clear the Shimoga constituency for his father BS Yeddyurappa.
