The steam locomotive series kkStB 15 were express train steam locomotives of the kk state railways (kkStB), which originally came from the kk privileged south-north German connection line (SNDVB).

history

When the series IIa machines had to be taken out of service at the beginning of the 1880s  , a replacement was created with the series  IIb , built by the Floridsdorf locomotive factory in 1883, No. 1 " , 2" , 4 " , 7" (later 3 '" ), 9" (later 6' " ) and 12" (later 5 '" ), with the names AUSTRIA II , BOHEMIA II , KÖNIGGRÄTZ II , KÖNIGINHOF II , ISER II and REICHENBERG II , as well as the IIc series  , built by Wiener Neustädter Lokomotivfabrik 1887, No.  8 " , 10" , 11 " , 6" (later 12 '" ), 3" (later 7' " ) and 5 " (later 9 '" ), with the names LIEBENAU II , TURNAU II , TRAUTENAU II , ELBE II , PARDUBITZ II and JOSEFSTADT II . The last machine JOSEFSTADT II had a camper box. The second IIb column of the table shows the dimensions of those IIb that had the same tender as the IIc. The dimensions of the wheels and cylinders were taken over from the III series  . Compared to the machines of the series  IIa , the locomotives of this series were much more powerful.

After the nationalization of the SNDVB in 1908, both series were classified as kkStB 15 . With the exception of two machines, the entire series 15 also came to the BBÖ . The locomotives were retired by 1925.

commitment

Together with the IIIa-b they ran the express trains Prague - Trautenau - Parschnitz (Poříčí), which took 5½ hours for the 154 km, as they stopped almost everywhere. The machines of the IIb-c series were last used between Josefstadt and Reichenberg .
