The BBC Ems class is one that initially 16 multipurpose heavy comprehensive, ship class , of which nine ships to the first generation , and six ships to the second generation include the shipping company internally and BBC Congo-class is called. The ships belong to the shipping company Briese Schiffahrt based in Leer ; however, they are long-term chartered to the subsidiary BBC Chartering , which is also based in Leer . The type ships BBC Ems and BBC Congo were delivered in 2006 and 2010 respectively. Two ships are currently under construction.
Technical specifications
The ships of the first generation from 2006 to 2009 have a deadweight capacity of around 17,500 dwt and a draft of 9.70 m. As of 2010, the carrying capacity of the second generation ships will only be 17,000 dwt. The two generations are largely identical; the only major difference is found in the cranes. While the BBC Ems class has 3 × 80 t cranes (combined 160 t), 2 × 250 t and 1 × 80 t (combined 500 t) were installed from 2010. All cranes were manufactured by NMF .
Thanks to the 7,074 kW marine diesel engine from MAN , the maximum speed of this type of ship is around 15 knots.
Whereas the first nine ships were more likely to be assigned to pure multi-purpose freighters, the ships are to be assigned to the modern heavy lift carriers at the latest when the BBC Congo is commissioned . The ships have a hold with a volume of up to 21,539 m³ and a 3,184 m² loading area which can be loaded with up to 20 t / m².
In addition, 958 TEU , 64 of which are refrigerated containers, can be loaded. The consumption is around 29.0 t HFO per day at sea. The ships are built in Tianjin, China, and are classified by Germanischer Lloyd .
