Pancalia is a genus of butterflies from the family of cosmopterigidae (Cosmopterigidae).

features

The Pancalia species have a smooth, scaled and rounded head. The antennae are flattened and reach 3/4 to 4/5 of the fore wing length. They are monochrome in the males. In females, they are often thickened in the middle by coarse black scales and have a white apical section. The labial palps are laterally flattened and elongated, the third segment is angled upwards and extends over the head. The forewings are lanceolate and have an orange-brown basic color with a silver or pale gold sheen. The interior drawing elements usually form an outwardly sloping band. The hind wings are much narrower than the fore wings.

The genital fittings of the males are slightly asymmetrical. The brachia are long and sturdy, and roughly the same length and shape. The tegumen is broad and clearly sclerotized . The blades are quite wide and often slimmer in the first third. The left valve is usually a little larger than the right. The valvellae are asymmetrical, the left valvella is always larger than the right. The aedeagus is curved and tapering to a point.

In females, the Apophyses posteriores are one and a half times as long as the Apophyses anteriores . The sterigma is more or less flat and has different shapes. The ductus bursae is long and slender and widens towards the corpus bursae . The corpus bursae is oval or egg-shaped and has paired signs in the form of two granular dimples.

distribution

The representatives of the genus are native to the Palearctic . The majority of the species occurs in East Asia , one species is known from the Orientalis .
