BB Cream stands for Blemish Balm or Beauty Balm . BB Cream is advertised as an all-in-one cosmetic product that replaces facial serum, moisturizer, foundation and sun block. Most creams in Asia also have a skin-lightening effect. European and American manufacturers also produce creams that do not lighten the skin.

BB Creams first developed into a commonly used everyday product in East Asia . Since 2011, BB Cream has also become known in Western countries and some Western cosmetic brands brought out their own BB Creams.

The BB Cream was developed in the 1960s from a formula by the German dermatologist Christine Schrammek. The cream should help the patient's skin recover after laser treatments and surgery. BB Cream was also launched in South Korea and Japan in 1985 . The cream was hailed there as “the secret of Korean actresses” and heavily promoted by many South Korean stars. In 2011, the South Korean company Dr. Jart the cream in the United States. Then BB Cream became popular worldwide. Some of the most famous brands, besides Dr. med. Christine Schrammek Kosmetik, Etude House , Lioele, Missha , Nature Republic , Rachel K, Skin79 , SHANGPREE, Skin Food, Sulhwasoo , The Face Shop, Alex Cosmetic, BRTC and Dr. Jart. South Korean and Japanese manufacturers have further developed the BB Cream and are now also producing CC Creams. CC stands for "Color Corrector" (color correction) or "Complexion Corrector" (complexion correction). These creams offer more coverage than a BB cream.
