BC Luleå is a Swedish basketball club from Luleå . Under the name Plannja Basket Luleå and LF Basket Norrbotten , the club was eight times Swedish basketball champions.

history

The association was founded in 1976 as Plannja Basket Luleå . LF Basket is a founding member of the Svenska Basketligan , which replaced the previous highest Swedish basketball league, the Elitserien , for the 1992/93 season .

LF Basket had a successful era between 1997 and, until the year of the name change, 2007, in which the club was seven times Swedish basketball champions and always reached the play-offs. Then you got into financial difficulties, but stayed in the upper range of the table and became runner-up in 2010. In 2015 the club changed its name to BC Luleå.

With 19 completed seasons, the club has played continuously in the Svenska basketligan since the league was founded and is in first place in the all- time table.

European Cup

Between 1995 and 1997, the club took part in the Korać Cup three times , each of which was eliminated early. In 1998 they played in the European Cup Winners' Cup ( EuroCup ), in which they finished last in the first group stage and were eliminated. In the following two seasons, the club again took part in this second most important basketball European Cup, now called the Saporta Cup , without surviving the first round. 2000/01 one was allowed to take part in the Suproleague as a Swedish champion . In a group of ten, LF Basket finished last and failed again early. The club also flew early in the FIBA EuroCup Challenge in the last European Cup participation so far .

Hall

The club plays its home games in the 3,000-seat Pontushallen .

For the 2013/14 season, LF Basket moved into the newly built Arcushallen .
