BDSM Berlin e. V. is a Berlin BDSM club. The association was the first sadomasochistic group in Germany to be recognized as non-profit and particularly worthy of support . The association emerged from a regulars' table of the IRC channel # bdsm.de and has been the largest BDSM organization in Berlin and the new federal states since the year it was founded.

Goal setting

The goals of the association are on the one hand to support individuals and on the other hand to break down stereotypes and prejudices against sadomasochistic sexuality. In addition to information and press work on the subject of BDSM, the association's activities also include general public relations, for example at events such as Folsom Europe or Christopher Street Day . These goals are approached by many club members who work exclusively on a voluntary basis and are also open to people who are not members of the club.

The association is networked with other groups worldwide and nationally, member of the German Society for Social Science Sexual Research e. V. , the Federal Sadomasochism Association and works on a local level with Pro Familia and AIDS organizations.

history

On June 4th 1997 the first Berlin regulars' table of the IRC channel # bdsm.de took place. On July 5, 1998, the Berlin Munch was founded by participants in the regulars' table. On September 21, 1999, BDSM Berlin e. V. was founded as a joint project of the Berlin Munich and the Stammtisch and recognized in January 2000 as non-profit and particularly worthy of support.

meaning

The club was the first to use the originally American concept of the Munches , i. H. low-threshold information events for those interested in the topic in German-speaking countries and served as an important model for the transition from originally predominantly digitally networked organizational structures.

Its foundation had an important catalyst function for the emergence of new organizations in the BDSM area. Today similar structures exist in the entire German-speaking area. The best-known and founding member of the association is Ingeborg Bachmann Prize winner Kathrin Passig .

Events and other offers

The association offers a wide range of different events such as open and public get-togethers and beginners' meetings for those interested. Furthermore, the association regularly organizes workshops on different topics such as " Bondage " or "SM and health" and regular discussion groups on various aspects of BDSM. The association offers up-to-date information on the Berlin BDSM scene and advice on BDSM on its website.

Kink-Aware Professionals

BDSM Berlin e. V. was one of the first clubs in German-speaking countries to offer a list of so-called Kink Aware Professionals based on models from the USA and England . These are psychologists , doctors , lawyers and representatives of other relevant professional groups who are familiar with the subject of BDSM and who are available as qualified contacts in personal crises and emergencies.
