The BEA + Poly-Verlag AG is a Swiss mail order company based in Brugg . It was founded in 1944 as a customer loyalty system for branded goods. The collection pictures from the 1970s, which could be acquired through collection points on everyday products, were particularly well known . Customers can still redeem collection points for discounted rewards - toys, painting and handicraft items, sports and leisure items, household goods, but also jewelry and accessories. The company is the only remaining such provider in Switzerland. Although the publishing business was largely given up, the company name has been retained to this day.

history

In 1944, BEA Verlag was founded in Zurich / Altstetten by Kurt W. Bosshard as a customer loyalty system for branded articles with book awards.

As a revolution, the scrapbooks were delivered ready-printed. Unlike the Silva books or the Fip Fop Club, where the individual pictures had to be glued in by hand.

1953: Move to Dietikon, after the unexpected great success the publishing house had to move to the new company building in Dietikon.

In 1970 the company merged with the Poly Verlag, which operated such customer loyalty systems very successfully in Germany. The new legal form was now Bea & Poly Verlags-AG .

1973: Relocation to Spreitenbach, where the company rented the Poly Druck AG property. The collective pictures were printed in Spreitenbach (Switzerland) and the German branch Poly-Bilderdienst was located in Tiengen . The books were published by Polydruck AG, Graphische Anstalt, which went bankrupt in 1993.

1978: Sale of the property in Spreitenbach to the Migros Genossenschaftsbund, whereupon the decision was made to acquire the property of the former Möbel Simmen AG in Brugg and to transfer the management to a young team under CEO Werner Bosshard.

The headquarters, the service and logistics center and also the development center, in which the new development of toys, household and leisure items are created, are still located in various properties in Brugg with 49 employees.

On December 7, 2005, the company received a new holding structure. The previously existing Bea & Poly Verlags-AG became BEA International Ltd. renamed, which has since acted as the holding company with the subsidiaries BEA + Poly-Verlags AG and Poly AG (both in Brugg). In 2008 the headquarters of the holding company was relocated to Sarnen in the canton of Obwalden, while the subsidiaries continue to have their headquarters in Brugg.

Books are still being published occasionally, but the core business is in the toy industry.

Acquisitions

Over the years, all of the competitors have been taken over by BEA + Poly Verlags AG:

Existing Avanti-, Silva and Mondo points are still accepted today by BEA + Poly-Verlag.

The collector's pictures, which appeared around 1970, were usually 7 × 10 cm in size and could be glued into albums, usually 20 × 27 cm, using glue. There were also pictures with the dimensions 10 × 15 and 14 × 20 cm. There were motifs from different areas, such as nature, animals, sport, technology and the like. a. A series usually consisted of 49 pictures (also 80). The albums became hardcover books with about 64 pages and also contained texts written by different authors.

Starting in 1982, the production of the collector's pictures began. The last scrapbooks appeared in the mid-1980s.

The mascot of the picture series represents an anthropomorphic bear. In the 1970s, the polypoints appeared in the following products: Gong , Omira Allgäu, odina (Odenwald spring), Rhodius fruit juices, wedding noodles, Druggist Illustrierte, Uracher Bräu, hella Brunnen, Der Garten (Magazine), kicker and Christinen Brunnen . Competitors were the penny points (e.g. in the magazine Yps ).
