BIS Records

BIS Records AB is a Swedish classic label . It was founded in 1973 by Robert von Bahr as Grammofon AB BIS and is based in Åkersberga .

BIS specializes in hitherto little represented works of classical , old and new music.

The Society has produced a complete recording of Sibelius 's works. Other northern European and Baltic composers are also well represented in their range, including Tubin , Kalevi Aho , Sally Beamish , Jón Leifs , Vagn Holmboe , Leif Segerstam and Hugo Alfvén , as well as Alfred Schnittke , Nikos Skalkottas and James MacMillan .

In 2006, BIS released its 1500th recording; by 2011 almost 400 more recordings were made.

Awards

• 2014 ECHO Klassik in the category Editorial Achievement of the Year for the recording of Johann Sebastian Bach's cantatas.
