The BKK Gildemeister Seidensticker ( own spelling : BKK GILDEMEISTER SEIDENSTICKER ) is a nationally open statutory company health insurance company with its headquarters in Bielefeld. As a health insurance company , it is a corporation under public law .

history

In 1874, Fritz Gildemeister set up, on a voluntary basis, a health and benefit fund for the machine tool factory Gildemeister & Comp. a. At that time, there was no statutory entitlement to health insurance in Germany. After the statutory health insurance came into force in 1884, the free health and support fund was transformed into the "Health insurance for the factory of Gildemeister & Comp." transformed.

On January 1, 1908, the association was founded to protect the interests of the German company health insurance funds . This association is considered to be the forerunner of today's BKK federal association.

From 1920 onwards, the BKK Gildemeister took over half of the treatment and pharmaceutical costs for family members of the insured. Until then, only insured employees were entitled to benefits, but not family members.

In the years from 1933 to 1945, the self-administration of the health insurance funds was abolished and administered by a state-approved director. It was not until 1953 that the BKK Gildemeister regained its self-administration.

1997 merged the BKK Gildemeister with the BKK Seidensticker to today's BKK Gildemeister Seidensticker . The nationwide opening took place in 1999. In 2003 it merged with BKK Zeppelin and on January 1, 2015 with BKK BJB under the name BKK Gildemeister Seidensticker.
