The BKK Pfalz is a carrier of the statutory health insurance in Germany from the group of company health insurance , based in Ludwigshafen am Rhein .

history

The BKK has its origins in the companies Knoll AG , Grünzweig & Hartmann AG , G + H Montage Group . In 1923 the BKK Pfalz was founded under the name BKK Knoll in Ludwigshafen. The health insurance company emerged from the global pharmaceutical company Knoll AG. In 1993 the BKK Knoll merged with the BKK Nordmark, in 2000 the BKK Knoll was opened nationwide under the new name BKK Pfalz. A year later, the BKK Pfalz merged with the BKK Ettlin in Ettlingen, and in 2003 the BKK Gebrüder Gienanth from Eisenberg was added. On January 1, 2009, there was a merger with G + H BKK from Ludwigshafen, which brought about 11,000 insured persons with them. Another merger with BKK Vital took place with effect from January 1, 2018.

Administrative structure

The management consists of the board of directors and the honorary board of directors. The chairman of the board is Andreas Lenz. Board member is Hans-Walter Schneider.

The voluntary board of directors is the highest decision-making body and consists of eight members' representatives and four employer representatives. An insured and an employer representative alternately chair the board of directors. The current chairpersons of the board of directors are Andreas Erb as the employer representative and Roland Brendel as the insured person's representative.

Contribution rates

Since January 1, 2009 the contribution rates have been standardized by the legislator. In 2015, the BKK levied an income-related additional contribution amounting to 1.2 percent of the contributory income. Since 2016, the additional contribution has been 1.4 percent.

Employee and insured numbers

BKK Pfalz employs around 400 people. While the BKK Pfalz insured just under 7,700 people on January 1, 2000, there are now around 190,000 insured persons. (As of January 2018)
