BMC Software Inc is a software company headquartered in Houston , Texas ( USA ). It was founded in 1980 by Scout B oulett, John M oores and Dan C loer. President and CEO is Peter Leav.

In fiscal 2005, the company achieved sales of around 1.46 billion US dollars worldwide, and around 1.91 billion US dollars is expected in 2010. BMC was listed on NASDAQ from 1988 to 2001 . As of March 13, 2001, BMC was listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE: BMC). In September 2013, BMC Software was acquired by a group of private investors in a privatization process. These investors were Bain Capital , Golden Gate Capital , Insight Venture Partners , GIC Private Limited, GIC Special Investments Pte Ltd. and Elliott Management Corporation .

In March 2020, BMC Software notified its intention to acquire Compuware to antitrust authorities for review.

Products

The software products offered by BMC include, among others, the one originally developed by Remedy Corp. developed Action Request System (ARS), now marketed as BMC Remedy ARS .
