BM Altea ( Club Balonmano Altea ) was a Spanish handball club from Altea ( Alicante province ).
history
The club was founded in September 1974; the first president was D. Pascual Moragues Riera. After the team had moved up to the second Spanish league, they rose to the ASOBAL league for the first time in 1996/97 , but did not manage to stay up. Only after the second attempt in 1999 did the club manage to establish itself in the top Spanish league. Moving into the 2003 semi-finals and the 2004 final of the EHF Cup represented the sporting highlight of the club's history.
In the 2006/07 season the club encountered financial problems, which ultimately led to the fact that the club withdrew its license for the 2007/08 season and, despite having reached 12th rank, was relegated to the second Spanish division. As a result, the club had to dissolve all player contracts. In 2008 the association was finally dissolved.
