The BOB ABDeh 4/4 are meter-gauge electric multiple units of the Berner Oberland-Bahn (BOB) in Switzerland for mixed adhesion and gear operation , manufactured by the Swiss Locomotive and Machine Works and by Brown, Boveri & Cie.
history
After the Second World War , the BOB acquired railcars for the first time. In 1949 three new railcars were put into operation at the BOB. Three ABDeh 4/4 (301-303) were delivered. It was thus possible to increase the mileage considerably and to take over some of the services of the HGe 3/3 locomotives , but the railcars could not take over all the services of the locomotives. When the new ABeh 4/4 I started operating in 1965, they were able to handle the entire operation with railcars together with the ABDeh 4/4.
In 1988 the ABDeh 4/4 301 was rented to the Meiringen-Innertkirchen-Bahn (MIB) until it returned to Zweilütschinen in 1996 as a spare parts donor.
business
In 1986, when the ABeh 4/4 II were put into operation, the ABDeh 4/4 were put in reserve. The 302 became a company vehicle and the 303 was fitted with a snow plow. When railcar 301 returned from Meiringen in 1996, it was canceled as a spare parts donor.
After the ABeh 4/4 I were scrapped in 2017 and the ABeh 4/4 II were moved to the reserve, the ABDeh 4/4 are no longer active and are still in the Zweilütschinen depot, one of which has been hollowed out and serves as a spare part donor, although the plan was to demolish the two railcars in 2018 (see roll material list ).
