The Halle Eisenbahnersportgemeinschaft is a German sports club from Halle (Saale) . Home is the Kanenaer Weg sports field . The club follows the tradition of the Reichsbahn SG Halle and the BSG Lokomotive Halle .
Football section
ESG Halle was founded before 1945 under the name Reichsbahn SG Halle . Until the end of the war, the club was always inferior in Central German football. In 1944, Reichsbahn Halle and Borussia Halle were briefly integrated into the Gauliga Mitte , which was broken off prematurely.
In 1945 the association was dissolved and re-established as SG Kröllwitz . In the period that followed, the loose sports group was renamed SG Reichsbahn Halle again with the entry of the Deutsche Reichsbahn carrier company and the subsequent incorporation into the Lokomotive sports association . From 1950 the railway workers acted as the BSG Lokomotive Halle-Mitte , after a merger with the BSG Lokomotive Halle-Ost supported by RAW , the BSG started as the BSG Lokomotive Halle in 1955 .
On a sporting level, Lok Halle was represented for one season in the then second-class Landesliga Sachsen-Anhalt ( Soviet occupation zone ) in the 1949/50 season , but with the penultimate place could not qualify for the newly introduced GDR league in 1950 . For the time being, the BSG competed in the Halle district class area, rose in the 1959 season together with activist Amsdorf for the first time in the then fourth-class Halle district league . Lok Halle initially held the top division of the district until 1964, and there was no realistic chance of promotion to the II. GDR League or GDR League. The best result was the runner-up behind Motor Köthen in 1962 .
In 1966 it was possible to return to the district league, which the locomotive, together with Chemie Greppin and Traktor Teuchern, had to leave after just one season. In the 1970s Lok Halle finally sank into the insignificance of GDR football.
In 1990 the association was renamed ESG Halle again . After the fall of the Wall, ESG was only active in local Halle football, promotions to the Saxony-Anhalt Football Association are no longer possible. The current division is the state class of Saxony-Anhalt .
