The BSG Lokomotive Ribnitz was a company sports community (BSG) based on GDR sport in the small town of Ribnitz-Damgarten in northern Germany .

history

After the dissolution of all sports clubs in the Soviet occupation zone after the end of the Second World War , sports operations continued from 1946, initially in loosely organized sports communities or sports groups. The Ribnitz sports group was founded on September 1, 1946 in Ribnitz, which was still independent at the time. Their soccer team took part in the Mecklenburg championship in 1946/47 and took third place in the middle of the season. In 1947/48 the national soccer class was founded in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania , one of the five highest divisions in the Soviet occupation zone, the best teams of which determined the first champions in 1948. With third place in the championship of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, the SG Ribnitz narrowly missed participation in the championship. In 1948/49 the Ribnitzer missed the final round of the national championship after fourth place in the East regional class relay.

On November 2, 1949, the Ribnitz sports group was transformed into the Fischlandschmuck Ribnitz company sports club. VEB Fischlandschmuck became the sponsoring company . In the 1949/50 season, the soccer team only came in sixth in the regional class East and thus could not qualify for the newly introduced second-class GDR league . In contrast, the Ribnitzer reached the qualification for the GDR-wide soccer cup competition FDGB-Pokal 1949/50. In the first main round, BSG Fischlandschmuck met the GDR league team and later semi-finalist ZSG Burg and lost their home game 1: 4.

From 1950/51 the Ribnitzer BSG only played in the fourth-class district class of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and came in sixth there. Before the end of the season, the BSG switched to the Deutsche Reichsbahn as the new carrier company and then appeared as the BSG locomotive. In 1951/52 the railway workers were able to improve to third place in the district class. Then the league system in GDR football was changed due to the abolition of the federal states and the district league was introduced as the third division . The BSG Lok Ribnitz was incorporated into the Rostock district league and reached sixth place there in 1952/53. In 1953 he was relegated to the Rostock district class, where he was immediately promoted again. With tenth place in the 1956 season (changeover to the calendar year game rhythm) relegation would have been made possible in the district league, but the BSG was excluded from further play after the end of the season. After that, the company sports association Lokomotiv dissolved.
