Football section
Motor Eythra was founded in 1909 under the name FC 09 Eythra . Until 1945, the club was always under-class within Central German football, and no participation in the Gauliga Sachsen or in the finals of the Association of Central German Ball Game Clubs took place.
In 1945 the association was dissolved and in 1946 it was re-established as SG Eythra . In the period that followed, the loose sports group was renamed Motor Eythra again from 1950 with the entry of the Motor Sports Association .
On a sporting level, the SG Eythra rose together with the SG Probstheida in 1947 in the Leipzig City League , which was part of the Saxony State League ( SBZ ) , but was only held for one season. Subsequently, the BSG Motor Eythra was consistently in the Leipzig district or. District class area represented, played about the possible promotion to third. Fourth-class district league Leipzig did not play a role and, in contrast to local rivals SG Zwenkau , acted without exception in the insignificance of GDR football. The greatest successes were five championships won between 1959 and 1979 and four cup victories in the Leipzig-Land district .
In 1985 the BSG was dissolved due to lignite mining and the associated demolition of the town of Eythra.
