The Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG) designated a series of 16  sidecars as type B 10/27 , which were designed between 1908 and 1911 for the Spandau – Nonnendamm (SpN) electric tram . Four cars were used between 1923 and 1945 on line 120 to Hennigsdorf . After the administrative separation, eight cars were transferred to BVG-West, which were taken out of service by 1954. BVG-Ost used its five sidecars until 1969/70 and then included them in the recovery program .

development

The tram-Spandau Nonnendamm procured 1908/09 first six sidecar, with items 19 to 24 in the vehicle Falkenried the street railway company in Hamburg . The cars were first used in passenger service at Easter 1909. Another ten sidecars followed in 1910/11 with the car numbers 25 to 34. The two-axle cars had end entrances and open platforms . The passenger compartment offered 24 transversely arranged seats and 42  standing places .

In 1914, the Spandauer Straßenbahn (SpS) took over the Nonnendammbahn and classified the cars of the first delivery series under numbers 8 to 13, and those of the second delivery series under numbers 187 to 196.

After the Spandau tram was taken over by the Berlin tram (BSt) in December 1920, the trumpet couplings previously used on the cars were replaced by Albert couplings . The car numbers ran from 1487 to 1492 and from 1523 to 1532.

In 1923, the cars 1526 to 1530 were converted for use on the 120 line, and accordingly they received wider wheel tires, air brakes and the like. It cannot be determined whether the car was also converted in 1527; the vehicle was taken out of service by 1927.

In 1927 the platforms of all cars were locked, and instead of the eight side windows, four larger windows were installed on some cars. The vehicles used on line 120 were given larger platforms with a length of 1.93 meters compared to 1.70 meters compared to the other cars, the total length was 9.68 meters instead of 9.22 meters. In addition , full-length folding doors were installed instead of the transfer doors that are common in Berlin . After the line to Hennigsdorf was electrified, the compressed air brakes were also replaced by electric brakes. After the work was completed, the cars were grouped together in the 1471 II –1485 II series. With the introduction of the BVG type code , they were given the type designation B 10/27 .

When the BVG was separated, wagons 1472 II –1474 II , 1477 II and 1485 II remained with BVG-Ost, and wagons 1471 II , 1475 III , 1478 II and 1481 II –1484 II remained with BVG-West. Car 1476 III was presumably withdrawn before 1949, car 1479 II and 1480 II were converted to freight wagons with the car numbers G 337 and G 338 before 1949 and remained as such with BVG-Ost. While BVG-West retired all wagons with wooden superstructures - including the B 10/27 - by 1954, the five BVG-Ost wagons were in use until 1969. They were then included in the recoprogram and served as donors for the sidecars 2253 II (ex 1485 II ), 2254 II (ex 1472 II ), 2258 II (ex 1473 II ), 2289 II (ex 1474 II ) and 2290 II (ex 1477 II ). In fact, these cars are new builds.
