The type BV 3000 is a series of container motor ships of the Bremer Vulkan . In addition to the Vulkan shipyard in Bremen, ships of this type were built at the MTW shipyard in Wismar and at a shipyard in South Korea.

details

The BV 3000 ship type was a further development of the extended version of the BV 2700 . This was initially designed in a basic version almost 200 meters long, which was already intended for an extension during construction. The larger container capacity of the BV 3000 results from the deck loading being one layer higher, which was made possible by a deckhouse that was raised by one deck. The deckhouse of the ships is arranged completely aft.

The BV 3000 version has seven cargo holds. The ships are set up for the transport of dangerous cargo. The large stability reserves allowed the BV 3000 to be loaded with a higher number of deck containers, which leads to a total container capacity of 3,017 TEU, of which 1406 containers can be stowed in 11 rows of containers next to each other in the hold and 1611 containers in 13 rows of containers next to each other on deck. Due to the comparatively high load-bearing capacity of around 45,470 tons, a high percentage (around 92%) of the available parking spaces can be used with homogeneous loading with containers weighing 14 tons each.

The ship's propulsion system consists of a diesel engine of the type 7 RTA 72U manufactured by Bremer Vulkan under Sulzer license with an output of 20,510 kW, which allows an output of just over 20 knots. The engines are designed for operation with heavy fuel oil .
