The type BV 2700 is a series of container motor ships of the Bremer Vulkan . In addition to the Vulkan shipyard in Bremen, ships of this type were also built by Thyssen Nordseewerke in Emden and Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft in Kiel.
details
The BV 2700 ship type was initially designed in a basic version that was almost 200 meters long, which was already intended for an extension during construction. Of the basic variant, however, two units, the Hansa Century and the Hansa Constitution , were only built from 1996/97 . All other structural units were delivered from the shipyard in the extended version. The basic version of the BV 2700 has six, the extended version seven holds. All ships are set up to carry dangerous cargo. The long variant has a maximum container storage capacity of 2680 TEU, of which 1406 containers can be stowed in 11 rows of containers next to each other in the hold and 1274 containers in 13 rows of containers next to each other on deck. Due to the comparatively high load capacity of around 45,700 tons, 2466 or 92 percent of the available parking spaces can be used with homogeneous loading with containers weighing 14 tons each. The large stability reserves of the further developed type BV 3000 allow a higher number of deck containers to be loaded, which leads to a total container capacity of 3017 TEU. The two shorter structures also come to 2,810 TEU in this way. There are 150 connections for refrigerated containers available at the beginning and 330 on later buildings.
It is noteworthy that the deckhouse of the short units was offset by two 40-foot container bays forward, while on the longer ships it was positioned completely aft.
The ship's propulsion system consists of a type 6 RTA 72 diesel engine with an output of 16,440 kW manufactured by Bremer Vulkan under a Sulzer license, and a Bremer Vulkan-Sulzer 6 RTA 84 C with 24,300 kW for the two short ships. The engines are designed for operation with heavy fuel oil .
