The Babatag ( Russian Бабатаг ; Uzbek Bobotogʻ ) is a mountain range in Tajikistan and Uzbekistan ( Central Asia ).
The Babatag extends over a length of 125 km in north-south direction. It runs between the river valleys of Kofarnihon in the east and Surxondaryo in the west. The southern part of the main ridge lies on the state border, while the central part is in Uzbekistan and the northern part in Tajikistan. The Hissar Mountains extend north of Babatag . The highest point of Babatag is the mountain Zarkosa in Uzbekistan with 2292 m .
The mountains are made of limestone .
The mountain slopes have a semi-arid climate . Xerophilic mountain vegetation grows . There are isolated pistachio forests . The mountain is the habitat of the Markhor which otherwise only in Kugitangtau and in the Darwaskette is found.
