Babette Gundy
Babette Gundy , nee Babette Reuter , also Betti Reuther and Betty Gundy , ( 1824 in Nuremberg - 8 December 1868 in Pest ) was a German opera singer ( soprano ).
Life
Gundy, the daughter of a first violinist in the orchestra of the Nürnberg Bühne, who later became a member of the court orchestra in Karlsruhe, made her debut in 1841 as "Gabriele" in the night camp in Nürnberg and received singing lessons from Sabine Heinefetter . Before she complied with an application to Frankfurt in 1844, she completed her artistic training with Giovanni Gentiluomo in Vienna . In 1845 she married the opera singer Georg Gundy . From Frankfurt she came to the Hoftheater in Mannheim in 1846 , where she was primarily an artist until 1849. Then she made guest appearances in Paris and London with unprecedented success , as well as in 1855 and 1856 under the Witteschen direction in Pest and later at the court theaters in Munich and Vienna.
